A few summers ago a chipmunk lay seemingly dead in our lawn. I went out in the scorching heat to scoop it up, but noticed it was splayed out and breathing slowly. I did a quick google and found that it was likely trying to cool itself.

So I gently sprinkled cool water on it and on the surrounding grass. It didn’t move then, but soon after, it was gone, I hope not taken by a predator.
