Actually, I can’t duplicate this. The only way I see an account challenge is if I reload the page (because it strips off the extra argument that makes it work) or if I click on another story listed at the bottom — which is expected to fail because it is not a friend link.

Other than that, I’ve opened multiple FOM friend links without any challenge in Safari Private Mode.
