I would not buy solar now if recouping the cost depended on grid sales.

Though I’m too old to justify the investment anyway - I’m unlikely to live long enough for that unless the cost fell incredibly far. Aside from that, there’s no room in the house or garage for extra equipment. Even adding a charger for an EV would be a problem for me because we downsized just a little too much!
