And that is so foolish. You need to earn less than an extra 34 cents a day to earn back the difference. Who would even notice unless you just started here or barely publish at all?

But more important to me is that this smacks of selfishness (unless the person truly is too poor or too inactive to justify it). The most important part of FOM for me is being able to share stories THAT THE AUTHORS WILL GET PAID FOR.

In my mind, that’s huge. I want to help other writers here, I want them to make more money, I want their wonderful stories to attract new members. Why? Because that’s good for me and them!

Second is that I want to support Medium. People who complain about how much of that extra money goes to Medium are again being selfish and very shortsighted. I want Medium to thrive, I want them to have money for more staff, more software improvements, more security, dammit!

Arrgh. It’s ridiculous. I’m going to take my comment and turn it into a longer rant for next week!
