Being a caretaker for a spouse is difficult. It can strain relationships, cause depression, and create emotional and financial stress.

I was feeling very down when I wrote this and almost deleted it. I decided to leave it as a an object lesson: if you know anyone in a similar situation, remember that both people involved are suffering. They'll hide it behind a brave face, but it's all more taxing than they will admit to.

Many of us will face this at some point in our lives. You may have to deal with this yourself. Be aware of the stress and do what you can to relieve it.

For me, that's humor, hugs, and stealing some time for myself. Others may need more.
