But is it really white saviorism? This is portraying actual history. I have no idea how accurate the film is, and I didn’t know about the book it is based on until the film was announced, but this was repugnant history that more people should be aware of.

I understand that many such “history” films have been done to glorify manifest destiny and yes, those are sickening, but is this one? The BBC review thinks it’s too long (duh!) but it doesn’t sound like saviorism. Leonardo is a killer, isn’t he? And apparently the FBI’s investigation doesn’t show them as heroes.
