Can Someone Explain The Medium Beta To Me?

Where is this going? What does it mean? I am so confused!

I’m confused. I’m using the Medium beta, I’ve read Ev’s articles, and I’ve read several other posts by people using it. I’ve remained confused.

I think I grok that the push is toward “stronger connections with the writers and publications” for readers, but I don’t see that happening. Maybe that’s because so many people are NOT in the beta? Will those connections be more obvious when things finally switch over?

The in-line experience is great, but when and how will people see this? It’s jumbled now: if I start from my profile, I think I’m seeing what I always would. If I use google to find one of my posts, I see only “More from Medium” at the end. It’s only when I go to a publication directly that I see the articles from that pub in the “infinite scroll”.

Is this still in flux? What do we expect the final version will look like? Specifically, what will the flow look like for a follower, for a random Medium member, for someone entering through the web, through social media?

What direction am I supposed to take as a writer? Is the idea here that we should have only one publication and that is our “brand”? I’ve stopped submitting to other publications because I do not…
