Did they take, or did you give against your better judgement?

I've been generous for all of my life, but I'm no easy mark. I'd guess 99% of my giving was unrequested -- I just saw someone in trouble, I had the resources to help, so I did.

I'd guess that if people asked me for help, I'd refuse almost all of them unless I could verify a lot about why they were asking. And even then, I would never exhaust my resources: me and mine come first, always.

I'm retired now and I don't give much. The most I've given anyone in the past year was $20.

Connectivity, yes. I feel that often and regret that most do not.
