Disassociation isn’t always bad. I’m able to disassociate from cold, for example. I can do the same with most pain.

Maybe you’d call that “ignoring “ rather than disassociating, but I’m pretty sure that deliberate use of it can be healthy.

I am pretty well disassociated from thinking about the virus. Call it ignoring if you like, but the only time I fully let it into my mind is when I need to go out. Then it’s mask and gloves, people avoidance and moving quickly, all very paranoid. I’m very stressed when I get back home with the shopping, but then I put it away.
