META MEDIUM

Do You Ever Check Who Other Medium Members Follow?

It can be a great way to find new people to read

Sometimes the lazy people I have subscribed to do not write enough. That’s not typical; usually they overwhelm me with posts and I have to do a bit of triage or give up stuff like eating and sleeping. But now and then too many foolishly think they have better things to do than write.

I could scout around Medium and yeah, I confess to doing that, but like somebody said, you have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find a prince.

I never did a lot of frog kissing before meeting my future wife, but that was stupid luck and because I was hungry and walked by her and her sister who were sitting in her ’67 Bonneville convertible outside the place my friend and I were going to and he knew her, so we went over to say hello and that was in 1966, but it has nothing to do with people who don’t write enough or with scrounging around Medium.

One way I find new people to read is when they happen to leave an intelligent, clever, funny, or insightful comment. I always check out those people’s stories.

I never look at anyone who asks anything like “Please read my stories.”
