It has been both exciting and frustrating for me to observe the progress we have made in learning the causes of aging. We seem to be moving ever closet to eliminating the debilitating effects of aging and perhaps postponing or conquering death itself.

We are testing an anti-aging drug for dogs now.

I almost hate reading about this sort of research. I believe that we are on the cusp of conquering aging and that young people alive today might never experience the senescence. If that future is not true for them, it almost surely will be for their children. Science is progressing rapidly in this regard; aging is a complicated problem indeed, but we are slowly unraveling the knots. Someday we will understand cellular biology well enough to treat aging as a preventable illness. We will cure that disease.

That promise is exciting, but the frustration is that I am unlikely to see it. I am 72 years old; I can peer intoโ€ฆ
