Except for PBS, Setting Up Our New Apple TV 4K Set Box Was a Breeze

As I explained at this post, I bought one of the new Apple 4K TV streaming boxes for two reasons: Wi-Fi 6 and support for being a Matter hub.

It just came last night. I thought I’d set it up the next morning, but my wife was busy with some texting, so I decided to at least start the setup then.

Pair the remote

Leaving the older 4K box still running, I plugged in this new one beside it and switched the HDMI cord. The screen came alive with instructions for pairing the remote.

Arrgh! It was the typical Apple scrolling through interminable languages.

Sheesh, Apple, can’t you do better than this? At least cycle in the most common languages more often? It took me quite a while to realize that it wanted me to hold “<” and “+” to pair the remote.

And then this morning I realized that I had accidentally paired the old remote. Fortunately…
