For some time now, we have been preparing children for jobs that will not exist and giving them skills they will not need.

The breakneck pace of change ensures this will only get worse.

I was a Unix troubleshooter for a big chunk of my life. Unix didn’t even exist when I was in school. I taught myself programming in several languages. I later supported email systems. None of that existed when I was in school.

If I were not capable of teaching myself from books and experimentation, I couldn’t have had this career.
