Heinlein certainly proved the lousy part. Don't misunderstand: his imaginative ideas were wonderful and I enjoyed him. But his characters were wooden, and their dialog often stilted. Some of that is painful to read.

But he succeeded because the grand vision overrode all that. And, yeah, he was prolific.
