I am not seriously suggesting that an AI should get patents, but say that I “invent“ something “A”. It really has no economic value. It’s just a curiosity.

Likewise, you invent ”B” and it is similar. But then fifty years later, somebody comes along and notices my A and your B, and realizes they can take a C idea of theirs and combine it all to make D, which is a tremendous commercial success. Does that person deserve the patent and the riches? Isn’t that always the reality of invention?
