I avoid meat for health reasons. I think more people will over time, but I also think that it won’t be long before we’ll be able to read the thoughts of animals and communicate with them much more than we can now. Whatever comes from that may tip the scales one way or another.

If a cow’s inner thoughts are very limited, people may feel less guilty killing it than now. If it’s much richer, the choice will be more difficult.
