I Couldn’t Figure Out Why These Icons Were On My Watch

And what made them change

Only the bed made sense

See those little icons above the time in the photos above? Other than the bed (bottom left), I had no idea where these came from or why they had suddenly decided to appear on my watch.

It wasn’t until I happened to go back to change a Focus that I had my “Oh, duh!” moment.

The icons on my watch were simply those assigned to the various Focuses I use.

Apple Focus is in Settings in IOS, iPadOS, and macOS. It allows more granular control of things like who is allowed to disturb you, what apps can notify you, and more. Focuses can change on a schedule, through Settings and Control Panel. and even from Shortcuts automations.
