I do make extra notes, but most of this is automatically tracked in Apple Fitness . I use my Apple watch for every workout. The calories may be a bit off for some things, but the heart rate chart , type, and time are accurate. I also get good readings on VO2 max and HRV changes. As I have a smart scale that reports to the Health app, I have a history of all that as well.
I have to keep my notes separate; I wish Apple would let me add notes directly. On the other hand, the separate journal gives me a global view and I can drill into the Fitness and Health apps by date for details.
