I do that also, but I do leave a comment as to why, as often the author is not aware that an ignorant publication has perverted their post.

In Safari, Reader Mode will switch to black text on white. I think there may be a Reader Mode extension for Chrome as well. That's good, but it is annoying, so even if I do read it that way, I still leave a polite note.
