I feel the same frustration. When there are alternatives, they can be expensive. We can buy milk in glass bottles from a local dairy. It’s not cheap, and we are retired on a diminished income, but we could swing it. However, my wife’s arthritis makes lifting heavy glass bottles painful and even impossible when full.

The old wax and paper cartons had their issues, but I’d buy those if I could. We do not drink soda, so no cans or plastic from that, fortunately. I’ve started making our yogurt; that’s an easy one. But everything is plastic, plastic, plastic!

I hate it.
