I Guess I Am Just Disgusted With People

Here, there, everywhere

I just quit writing for another pub because the owner of it is yet another person telling writers to clap, highlight, comment so that others will return the favor. He also advises follow for follow, saying that people who don’t are not “supporting” their fellow writers. He “follows” 60,000 people!

Can’t anyone be genuine anymore? Does it have to be follow for follow, clap for clap, highlight for highlight, and useless comment for useless comment?

I’m so sick of all this game-playing. I’m sick of the Facebook, Slack, and Discord groups who sing the same song.

If I ever quit Medium, it will be because of this. Not because of Medium itself, but because of gaming.

There are a small number of people here who I enjoy reading. I follow those people by subscribing to email delivery of their stories. There are more people I would like to subscribe to, but there are only so many hours in the day.

Note that the people I read regularly don’t necessarily read me. There’s no reason to assume they will find me worth reading just because I enjoy their writing.
