I have a friend who is 13 years older than I am. I help him out a few times a year with tech stuff.

When I show up to help him and I say “How are you?”, hee always says the same thing. Yesterday it was no different except for the end of his reply, which changes every year.

“Well, I’m eighty-nine.”

Nothing more, no “But..” or “What can you expect”, just “Well, I’m eighty-nine.”
