I have always found it interesting that well off people often complain more about the costs of things.

I had a very well off friend who lived in the same upscale town I did. I owned a modest Cape, he owned a mansion.

One day he called me and groused about his real estate tax bill. Sure, his bill might have been five times mine, but he had more than five times my income too.

He demanded,“What are we going to do?”

I said that I’d already paid mine and hadn’t thought about it again. What the hell else should I do? Nice town, great school system, clean, safe, high taxes, duh!
