I’d advise people to be wary of Medium’s instance. They may kill it at any moment or might even go out of business. I hope NOT— I love Medium, but the reality is that this type of site is in peril from outside forces.

Mastodon is great. You can join any server and move to another without losing followers, but why not start somewhere that has proven longevity?
