I Love My Weighted Blanket, But

There are difficulties..

I have not been sleeping as I would like recently, so I decided to try a weighted blanket. I also thought it might help my wife, who has experienced poor sleep for many years.

My wife always objects to my spending any money for her needs but is usually enthusiastic if I want something like this for myself.

When something is for both of us, her opposed impulses put her into a state where she agrees to the purchase but can’t decide exactly what we should buy. I put up with her dithering for a few weeks and then pulled the trigger on Amazon.

These things can be returned. I made sure of that before ordering because I had concerns about the weight. I didn’t want it to be too heavy for her (she’s about 103 lbs to my 155) or too light for me. Fourteen pounds didn’t sound like much; it would be just seven pounds each — a bit light for me, perhaps, but surely not too heavy for her.

Ha! I was so wrong! While I did get a good sleeping experience, my wife did not, and the blanket seemed weirdly heavy. The problem was not that it felt too heavy on me, but moving it once we were in bed was very difficult. You wouldn’t think that a fourteen-pound queen-sized blanket would be so awkward, but it was.
