I never “became” an atheist because I never believed.

Our parents took us to church. I thought the guy up front was just telling stories like the stories my parents read to me. When I realized he was serious, I refused to go any longer because I thought everyone there was insane and it scared me.

Years later I learned the word “atheist”.
