I only hate the ones who are trying to enforce their religious views on the rest of us. The rest are just trying to be nice and assuming way too much about the beliefs of those they are talking to.

I went to school at a time when the morning began with the Lord’s Prayer — hilariously inappropriate in a town that was 70% Jewish! I refused to join in, but the teachers probably assumed that I was Jewish, so they ignored it.

Then they added “Under God” to the pledge of allegiance. That infuriated me and I wouldn’t say that either.

So, for a long time, I would snap at any religious reference, but as I got older I decided to keep my mouth shut and to ape a fake smile.

I’m hoping Wednesday will bring good news, but this mucosal melanoma seldom goes away for long, so some other scan will tell a different story. I’m prepared for it logically, but it will hit me hard emotionally.
