I quit school at 16 because I was bored to tears. I was in a supposed “Gifted and Talented” class from grade 5 onward, but I was still bored because I read omnivorously then and now.

I taught myself to program (more books) and owned a successful computer consulting business for 34 years.

NOT EVERYONE NEEDS OR WANTS SCHOOLS.
