I suppose we can always find something worse. My wife is plagued by incessant pain, and says "But I could be poor and alone and have pain". I worry that we might outlive our retirement savings and then remember how many people in this cruel country have no savings at all.

And then there is that $600 check on its way out to us, right? Yeah, right. And that whopping Social Security increase! Things are looking up - because we aren't quite face down in the muck?
