I think you are absolutely correct.

Two things:

One, I only self publish. I don't like my stuff mixed in with other people because some of it is not so great.

Second, views and reads don't always mean money. I suggest using Martin van Soest's Medium Earning extension. I'm sure you will come to the same result, but individual stories can have lousy money with lots of views and reads.
