I was once minorly famous in a tight technical area. My website blog had 300-400k monthly unique visitors and that made me well known in enough in specific circles that I did get “You are THAT Tony Lawrence?” a few times.
Those days are long gone now, and although I always enjoy money from writing, I do not need it now, so I’m free to dabble.
I like being able to keep up with comments, to be able to acknowledge and respond to them. That’s important to me; I could not do it if I became very popular.
So, a little more popular, sure. A lot more, no, I’d rather not.
