I would not. There is no reason to expect that you would want to read me just because I enjoy your posts.

What Medium should do is count how many of our stories a supposed follower has read in the past few months and have a cutoff — if you haven’t read at least X of mine in three months, boom, you are no longer a follower.

Follower counts would drop drastically. People with 20,000 followers would suddenly have a few hundred. People like me would have a few dozen.

This would inject a much needed dose of honesty into follower stats. It would also expose the truth about people who “follow” 60,000 writers - their following counts would drop to zero in some cases.
