If we remove the electoral college, I believe we absolutely need ranked choice voting. Without that, a close race would require recounts in every single state (because every vote anywhere would matter) and the lawsuits would descend into counties and maybe even towns, again because every damn vote would matter.

Ranked choice voting would make a clear winner more likely.
