I'm just shy of six feet, so not short, but years ago I had a business partner who was several inches taller. Our lawyer was taller than both of us.

As we owned a retail store, most of our meetings with the lawyer were standing up, talking in the aisles of the store. I felt like a child looking up at the adults!

It's telling that I never notice when other men are shorter than I am, but I immediately take note of someone taller. It must be a dominance thing.
