In 1973, my wife and I bought a small home in an upscale town. Our two children were now both in school, so she took a part time job. We had two cars, two kids, our new home, and our income was just over $14,000.
By 1990, our income had risen to more than Homer's at around $60.000 and we lived pretty high on the hog even in a high tax town in Taxachusetts. We had new cars every two years, vacations, and more.
We were not unusual. Neither of us had degrees. Neither of us were highly paid. We didn't even have union jobs! We were just ordinary Americans.
Republicans killed all that. Fools keep voting for them.
