Is Apple the Low Cost Alternative?

In some cases, yes

Oh, that Apple tax! Apple overcharges for everything, right? Why do the Apple Sheeple put up with it? Anyone can see that their phones are not worth the money they want!

Really, is that true? Or, to borrow an old line from Steve Jobs, maybe you are holding it wrong?

That is, maybe you are looking at it in a way that obscures the value. Or, for some, there is no value for them specifically. For example, someone who only has a phone and only uses it for phone calls, texts, things like Instagram and so on. That person might be well aware of the privacy advantages they’d get from Apple and simply not care.

Privacy is important, but there are ways around it even with the cheapest Android phone you can find. You can buy VPN software, and you can even find free VPN software, though you probably shouldn’t trust that because most “free” stuff is finding some other way to make money. But maybe not, maybe it’s just a few ads and they are otherwise honest. Maybe.

Security might be another issue. Some phone vendors don’t update the operating system all that often and some may never do it. But hey, unless you go rock bottom, the more well known brands keep on top of that stuff.
