My Apple watch exercise record

My watched shrieked as though I were trying to murder it. All I had done was remove it from its charger, but you’d think I was threatening it with a hammer. The watch face gave no explanation for the screaming: it was not an alarm, the watch was not trying to call 911, nothing at all explained its distress. I pushed buttons, I desperately looked for the cause, but the pulsing noise went on. I could not stop it.

Confused, I held the side button to call up the Shutdown dialogue and powered it down. The screams were cut off. I shook my head in wonder: what was that all about?

I waited a minute or so and tried turning the watch back on. It would not respond, which I felt was perhaps because it hadn’t quite finished shutting off yet, so I let it sit for several more minutes and tried again. No reaction, it would not return to life.

Stuff Happens

I was mildly concerned, but I’ve seen that before and knew a simple fix: put it back on the charger and within seconds even a completely dead watch will turn on.
