Massachusetts opened up eligibility for my age group two days ago.
According to https://www.mass.gov/doc/weekly-covid-19-vaccination-report-february-18-2021/download about 1.2 million people here have been vaccinated, but only around 4% have had the second dose.
The new eligibility introduces another million people.
So a million need the second shot and another million need two shots, making roughly three million shots needed.
Massachusetts is currently getting 110,000 shots per week from suppliers.
So thirty weeks or so before everyone can be protected?
But no, because the population of MA is almost seven million. So that’s one million second shots needed plus six million needing both, or a bit less than 70 weeks, give or take?
But sure, open the schools and the restaurants and get everybody back to work! What could go wrong?
