Maybe someday. It doesn’t seem likely right now, even if we oust Trump, but maybe someday.
I grew up in a heavily Jewish Massachusetts town. Jewish holidays were a great source of amusement: the schools were open, but so little of the population was not Jewish that there really was no point to it. Off we trotted to nearly empty classrooms, all the good little Christians and the bemused atheists like me.
There were stupid Christian bullies who would pick on the Jewish kids. I’d defend them when I saw it, but the bullies would just come back another day. It really fed my dislike of religion and the ignorance it could bring.
My wife and I lived there until our mid fifties. I’ve never bagelled anyone. Perhaps living in that environment is the reason: you’d be bagelling night and day.
Now we live in a retirement island located in a town full of Trump loving folks. Unfortunately, the demographics of our retirement community also includes too many of them. I wish we hadn’t left our highly educated hometown where the bagels are fantastic, the schools are excellent, I could have intelligent conversations with my neighbors, and there are damn few Trump signs to be seen.
Sigh. My best to you and thank you for your post.
