Most definitely. For thirty three years I did Unix system consulting and troubleshooting.
Every, yes, every day, I wrote a technical article about all that for my website. If I’d helped somebody solve a tricky problem the day before, I’d write about that. If I had to explain something complicated to a client, I’d write that up to make it quicker to explain the next time. If there were new products, I’d write about those.
That website garnered close to half a million unique visitors from all over the world every month. People thanked me for giving them solutions to problems and some of them even sent me money in addition to the thanks.
It also got me new clients. Constantly. So many that I could pick and choose which I wanted and refer the rest to other people. I gave those referrals away also and that got me both gratitude and sweet gigs when those folks had too much work themselves or just needed a vacation.
I wrote a few books too, and put them up for no cost at Amazon. Those got me clients also as did some magazine articles, though I took the money for those.
So yes, you are 100% right. Give it all away.
