My Dad had an old book, Bowditch's Logarithms or something like that which had logarithm tables. I was a curious kid, so I asked him to explain what these pages and pages of numbers were. He explained it, explained how I could multiply by addition, and then showed me you could add logarithms with a slide rule.

Years later, that subject came up in school. That happened with a lot of things I learned from his books.
