My Wife is a Witch
I say that in the nicest possible way.
While I am unable to definitively prove that my wife is a witch, I do have observational evidence that I believe is quite convincing. I will get to that in a moment, but first, I need to assure you that I love my wife dearly, that in more than fifty years of marriage, she has never harmed me, and I am unaware of any instance where she has used her supernatural ability for evil.
I first noticed her powers early in our marriage. I have related elsewhere how she was able to pay by check anywhere we went. This was back in the days before credit cards were common and many stores would only accept cash if you were not a local resident. It amazed me that although I could not proffer a check outside of my home town, merchants anywhere would cheerfully accept a check from her.
From time to time, people have pointed out that my wife is a very attractive and personable woman and that many men are often easily persuaded by feminine charms. Yes, that could explain some instances, but it doesn’t explain why a wizened New England female store owner standing behind a prominent “CASH ONLY!” sign would accept my wife’s check with a smile. There are few explanations for that, I think you would agree.
