No, I Will Not Be Polite To Trump Supporters

Nor will I seek common ground, associate with them, or hide my disdain

I recently commented on a Medium post that seemed to suggest that we should calm down about politics and that it is foolish to abandon family and friends over politics.

After a few back and forths with the author, I ended up blocking them. Not because they were rude, but simply because I’m not going to listen to that kind of nonsense when our country is on the verge of falling apart.

As Tom Jefferson famously supposedly said, “All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent.”

I’m not going to be silent.

I’m not going to discuss our differences. The differences are plain: if you support Trump, you are either self-centered and greedy, or a racist, or a crazed Q-Anon member, or an ultra-religious person seeking the end to abortion or even to create a so-called Christian Nation.

It doesn’t matter to me which describes you. I understand WHY you feel the way you do and I understand why you might support Trump. If I missed some reason that you think would not be odious to me, feel free to complain to somebody who cares, which would not be me. There is…
