Of course. Because they think nobody will want to work and *they* will have to pay for all the lazy bums.

What they forget is the word "basic". A UBI should be enough to live on, but it isn't going to give you a mansion, skiing in the Alps and summers on the Riviera.

What it WILL give is safety, safety to try to start a business. Or time, time to study, to learn, to volunteer.

UBI would have massive societal benefits.
