Of course it has. Every field in education has expanded. What a person has to learn in physics today is far, far more than anyone had to learn in previous generations. History? Same thing. Culture, art, you name it, there is so much more to learn and it gets worse every year.

For a person to be well rounded today, they probably would have to spend their entire life studying and would still die without really being well rounded.
