Right click on it in the Dock, choose Options, then keep in Dock.

For instance, I use Final Cut to edit videos for my business. When I’m working on a project, the Final Cut icon is there on the bottom of my screen. But then, unaccountably, the next time I go to use Final Cut, it’s gone.

Right click on it in the Dock, choose Options, then keep in Dock. Drag it to where you want it- probably far left if it's a favorite. You might also click Open at Login.
