Seriously, I understand your objection. I get annoyed when phrasing doesn’t match what I am accustomed to. It slows down my reading, and that is an unpardonable sin.

But to me, many sentences that you would like, I would not. To wit, leaving the “that” out of the prior sentence scans badly for me. My brain hesitates when it sees “you” right after “sentences”.

I’m old. Can we pretend that my overusage of “that” is an endearing quirk from an almost bygone time?
