Sounds pretty cheap to me.

We once stayed at a place that offered a complimentary breakfast but had a regular menu for those just passing through.

We had the free breakfast the first day but wanted something else the second day. The server got very upset, chiding us that we couldn’t do that!

I tried to tell her that we expected to pay for the meal. She still was adamant because she thought we wanted a discount — which I guess had some logic to it, but I did not expect that, so there was no issue on my side.

I never had such a hard time ordering breakfast in my life!
