The Modular Rent-A-Car
Nothing I have read or heard has quite envisioned this
I listen to a number of tech related podcasts, so of course many have talked about self-driving cars and the changes these could bring to our daily lives. One point often made is that this would free up a lot of parking lots, which I suppose is good news to almost everyone except parking lot employees.
Other less joyful folks might include limousine, bus, taxi and Uber drivers. People have also mentioned grumpy old boomers who don’t want to give up their ’67 Mustangs. Those stubborn drivers are also concerned that the roads will be jammed with autonomous vehicles scuttling about, which might put human drivers more at risk. It’s easy for an all autonomous pack of vehicles to be aware of its members intentions, but much harder to know what an impulsive human driver or pedestrian might suddenly do.
I don’t think it has to be like that at all. I think everyone is imagining the wrong thing entirely.
