CRYPTOCURRENCY

Virtual Currency Is Inevitable, but It Won’t Be Bitcoin

Or any of the others

I truly cannot understand the reason people think Bitcoin or any other virtual coinage will become our currency. This is very much like thinking that the supposed truth of your religion will be taken up by everyone else.

That’s not likely to happen.

Though some CryptoHeads do have a religious fervor about this, don’t they?

Why would a country want a virtual currency?

There are good reasons for countries not to switch to any of the Crypto Religions. The most obvious is that governments want full transaction transparency. They want that to help control crime and to more easily levy taxes.

Well, they want that unless they are criminals themselves.

The only reason a particular politician would want Bitcoin to be our national currency is if they happen to already own a lot of it and use it for illegal purposes. Yes, a bunch of corrupt politicians could try to force this on us, but there would be strong opposition from both sensible people and other greedy folks who bet on a different currency.

You can’t easily tax Bitcoin
